Taverna — Recipe & Meal Planner

Last updated: August 9, 2026

Taverna is made by Brissago Technologies AS. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your rights.

The short version: your data is used to run the app for you. It is never sold or shared with third parties for advertising.

1. What we collect

When you create an account and use Taverna, we store:

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, browsing history, or data from other apps beyond what you explicitly import.

2. How we use your data

Your data is used solely to provide and improve Taverna:

3. Data storage

Your data is stored with reputable cloud infrastructure providers, with servers located in the United States and European Union. Your data may be processed on servers outside the EEA. Where this occurs, we ensure our providers maintain appropriate data protection standards. Our infrastructure providers process your data only on our behalf and are contractually prohibited from using it for their own purposes.

4. AI recipe generation

When you generate a recipe or request suggestions, your inputs (preferences, dietary settings, and any text you provide) are sent to third-party AI providers to produce the result. These providers process the content of your request only to generate a response — they do not receive your name, email, or account ID, and do not use your inputs to train their models under our API agreements.

5. Analytics and session recording

We use PostHog to measure how the app is used. PostHog acts as our processor and hosts this data on servers in the European Union. It records events such as opening a screen, creating a recipe, or hitting an error, along with a device identifier, app version, and, once you sign in, your account ID. It does not use advertising identifiers, and we never join this data with data from other companies.

Guest tour recordings. If you use "Take a look around" without creating an account, that session is screen-recorded so we can see where the tour is confusing. This applies only to the guest tour, which contains sample data we created, not your own. Recording stops the moment you sign in or create an account, and typed text is masked. Signed-in sessions are never recorded.

Our legal basis is legitimate interest: understanding how our own app is used is necessary to keep it working and to improve it, and it is limited to what that requires. You can turn analytics off at any time in Profile → Privacy → Share anonymous usage data, and the app will stop sending events.

6. Sharing features

If you share a recipe, shopping list, or meal plan with a friend, that content becomes accessible to the recipient. You control who you share with. Shared content can be withdrawn by deleting it from your account.

7. Data retention and deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. You can delete individual recipes, plans, and lists at any time from within the app.

To delete your account and all associated data, email support@brissago.no. We will process the request within 30 days.

8. Children

Taverna is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Your rights (EEA / Norway)

If you are based in the European Economic Area (including Norway), you have the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Where we rely on legitimate interest, as we do for the analytics described in section 5, you have the right to object to that processing; the in-app toggle honours this immediately, and you can also contact us. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Norway: Datatilsynet).

10. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
